Brau-1589 is the first robot to ever kill a human, taking place eight years prior the events of Pluto.
The way Naoki Urasawa drew Brau-1589's limbs are reminiscent of the collapsible arms and legs that were part of the design for the Blue Knight or Blue Bon from Tezuka's Tetsuwan Atom. Blue Bon was a robot consumed with hate that went against robot law and killed humans. He met an untimely end by being pierced through the chest with his own spear. The name "Brau" was most likely intended to be "blau" which is German for blue.
