Higashikata, Kaato

Biografía

The elusive, independent mother of the Higashikata children. Kaato doesn’t hesitate to stand up for herself or against her family if need be, defending her own actions and opinions. She’s particularly close with her oldest son Joubin.

Her return stirs up drama.

[Spoiler] In order to prevent Joubin from falling victim to the Rock Disease as a child, Kaato willfully murdered one of his bullies by sacrificing him, enlisting the help of Joubin. In spite of the nature of such a violent act, Kaato’s love for Joubin is obvious. Her crime was eventually discovered, which lead to her arrest and imprisonment. Norisuke then divorced her and purposefully lied about her true status, claiming she died before people like their daughter Daiya were old enough to remember.

Kaato is noted to be an exceptional prisoner. She’s released after serving a sentence of 15 years. [/Spoiler]

[Spoiler] Once she's reunited with Joubin, she collaborates with him to help secure the Locacaca. [/Spoiler]

[Spoiler] Kaato bravely sacrifices herself to cure her grandson Tsurugi of the Rock Disease by forcing Tooru to undergo an equivalent exchange with him. After generations of the Higashikata family being haunted by the curse, Kaato manages to finally break it, thus ending the cycle of suffering and sacrifice. [/Spoiler]

[Spoiler] Kaato is a Stand user who wields Space Trucking (スペース・トラッキング). Space Trucking grants Kaato the ability to store objects, including living people, between a deck of cards. [/Spoiler]
