[Spoiler] He truly is a NEXT with the ability to alter ones memories. He also is the one who killed Barnaby's parents. Maverick worked together with terrorists to set up crimes, all to raise the popularity of Hero TV. Barnaby's parents wanted to make that public and thus he killed them and after that altered Barnaby's memories who saw his deed. [/Spoiler]
